I’m proud to say author Gabriel Neville included my photo of a historical marker for the Battle of Mamaroneck (also known as the Skirmish of Heathcote Hill) in his excellent study of the 8th Virginia Regiment in the American Revolution.
The battle was a small affair involving several hundred combatants, fought on October 22, 1776 in in Westchester County, New York.
The Last Men Standing: The 8th Virginia Regiment in the American Revolution is 468 pages and is one of the most impressive regimental histories I’ve seen, with so much meticulously researched detail and over 170 photos and maps. Check it out if you’re interested in American history!
