Red Line Diner, at 2691 Winfield Road (State Route 817) in St. Albans, West Virginia, is a c. 1995 Starlite diner overlooking the Kanawha River. I stumbled upon it while visiting sites associated with the Battle of Scary Creek. At first glance, it appears to be a classic mid-century diner, but I later learned it is a modern design by the same company that builds Denny’s 1950s-inspired “classic” restaurants. Inside, the décor is filled with nostalgic pop culture memorabilia, and a statue of Betty Boop dressed as a waitress greets visitors at the entrance. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the menu specializes in burgers, subs, and pasta.
