Come Join my Class at Spoon River College – 3 nights only!
Macomb- Spoon River College is offering a course called Folklore & Ghostlore of Illinois on Tuesdays, October 5th-19th from 6-8 p.m. at the Spoon River College Community Outreach Center.
This course is designed to offer a fun and informative look at the folklore and ghostlore of Illinois. Students will learn how folk stories help to preserve local history and strengthen community bonds. Students will have an opportunity to share with the class their own favorite local ghost story, and will come away with a deeper understanding of the history of Illinois and the role of folklore in their lives. This course is instructed by Michael Kleen. Michael is an author, folk historian, and part time raconteur. He holds a master’s in American history from Eastern Illinois University and publishes a quarterly digital journal of Mid-American art & culture called Black Oak Presents. In his spare time, he writes opinion columns and a monthly newsletter called the Legends and Lore of Illinois.
